Top 12 Kishore Kumar Songs: 12 stages of LOVE

Kishore Kumar, the legendary voice of Bollywood is considered as god amongst the music lovers of Hindi Bollywood genre. On his 85th birthday (4 August 1927 – 13 October 1987), BM pays a tribute to the magician who has sung love songs of every expression. With his super hits songs playlist, we try to portray the twelve stages of love and a song dedicated to each one of it. 


1.       We all have a Muse!


Meet Na Mila Re Mann ka.. (1973) This song from the super hit film Abhimaan,starring  Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri depicts the story of the singing sensation who sings across his saga of finding his dream girl across radio channels. Women all over are shown going gaga over his voice.


2.       It Starts With!


Chala Jaata Hoon Kisi Ki Dhun Mein.. (1972) This melodious number from the movie Mere Jeevan Saathi starring Tanuja and heartthrob Rajesh Khanna depicts the happiness of a young man and his overwhelming love feelings for his woman. The man is happily singing the song while driving on a highway and remembering the love of his life.


3.       The Chase!


Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu.. (1969) This sensational song from the blockbuster flick Aradhana starring Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna depicts the story of a young man trying to woo the woman of his dreams who is travelling in a toy train in Darjeeling.


4.       The Proposal!


Humein Tumse Pyar Kitna.. (1981) The super melodious number from Kudrat depicts the love, romance and passion between the duo Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna. The man is trying to express his undying love for his woman.


5.       The Crazies!


Meri Umar Ke Naujawano.. (1980) A Melodious Song by Kishore Kumar from 1973's all time classic Karz. The young singing sensation Monty (Rishi Kapoor) who falls for Tina Munim sings this song during one of his performances, depicts the ultimate craziness of puppy-love.


6.       Dates and Dinners!


Achha Toh Hum Chalte Hain.. (1970) This ever green melody from the flick Aan Milo Sajna starring Asha Parekh and Rajesh Kumar is sung by Kishore Kumar in duet with Asha Bhonsle. This song depicts the dating culture prevailed during those times and is shot on various dating points from parks and gardens to boating ponds with the love birds singing along.


7.       The Promise!


Hum Dono Do Premi Duniya Chhod Chale.. (1974) Another melodious number from the king of music Kishore Kumar in duet with Asha Bhonsle from the movie Ajnabee. This song shows the passion, revolt and promises made by young love couple Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman who try to break-free from the harsh clutches of society and traditions.


8.       The Seductress Wins!


Roop Tera Mastana, Pyar Mera Deewana.. (1969) Aradhana, a film which over night made Rajesh Khanna a super star and also finally Kishore Kumar's struggle to established himself as a versatile singer ended. The song shows the passionate romance and intimacy between Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.


9.       Ultimate Heart Break!

dil aaj shayar hai

Dil Aaj Shayar Hai, Gham Aaj Naghma Hai.. (1970) This super hit number from the movie Gambler showcases Dev Anand as a heart broken lover who is singing across his repent towards his love interest Priya Rajvanshi, in a get together where the woman chooses another man.


10.   The Curse!

Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi… (1964) This song from the black and white flick Mr. X in Bombay doesn’t only have the melodious voice of the legendary Kishore Kumar but also has him as an actor. The man sings across his anger and curse towards the infidelity shown by his love interest played by KumKum. This song was shot on different spots in the city of Bombay (now Mumbai).


11.The Repent!

aap ki kasam

Zindagi Ke Safar Mein Guzar Jaate Hain Jo Makaam.. (1974) This lyrical magic from the film Aap Ki Kasam depicts the guilt of Rajesh Khanna who because of his insecurities and lack of confidence, breaks off his marriage with Mumtaz.


12.   Move On!

Aate Jaate Khoobsurat Awara Sadko Par.. (1977) This song from the film Anurodh depicts how Rajesh Khanna who is a singer with Radio channels, remembers his past and relationships. But now has moved on, and has a huge female following including the woman of his life played by Simple Kapadia.
